A Christmas to Remember

After last year's Christmas by ourselves, we were thrilled to have such a fun holiday this year, with 3 of our 4 children and their families here. Brian came from Michigan, Brad, Emily, Braden, Dallin, and Trevor came from Oregon, and Tom, Amy, Jacob, Allison, and Gideon came from California. It was pretty much non-stop activity and fun.
Here are some highlights from our holidays. . . .

Beginning the Christmas season, the family Christmas party had some excitement-
a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Our tree got a new look this year.
Thanks to Amber, I got this idea for a new wreath from her blog.
The bannister had a new look
and the entry was ready to welcome our family home.
What would Christmas be without a trip to see the lights at Temple Square?
Brian surprised us with a visit from his caroling friends.
Love the gift of beautiful Christmas music! (Brian is the one with the Jazz Santa hat.)Oh the rivalry- BYU vs. Oregon State! A game-watching/pizza party was followed by
a birthday party for Emily- her birthdays are always exciting.
The centerpiece of Christmas this year- snowmobiling into Brad's family's cabin.
So cozy- the perfect place to get everyone involved in making popcorn garlands for the tree.
Ready for the hunt for the perfect Christmas tree.
The boys all helped Brad cut the tree.
Grandpa gently drags the tree back to the cabin.
The name of the tree-decorating game is teamwork.
Cookie artists at work. Santa will get a workout finding us at the cabin. He'll need a snack.
Excitement could hardly be contained on Christmas Eve. The Nativity Story was re-enacted with gusto, our favorite Christmases were shared, and Trevor, Braden, and Dallin were too excited (and hot) to sleep. The new jamies were shed until morning.
Can you believe it?! Santa DID find us!
Love the sheer joy!
There were gifts galore.
Yes, there were surprises! (A beautiful CTR ring from David- a surprise because our new kitchen was supposed to be our Christmas- even though now, hopefully, the kitchen will be done in time for Valentine's Day.)
Brad's traditional Christmas paella.
Brian barrels down the awesome sledding hill on Christmas afternoon.
Back in Bountiful, the rest of the family joined us and we had the
excitement of gift-giving all over again.
Gideon meticulously unwraps his present as everyone looks on.
Another round of gift-giving when all the cousins, aunts, and uncles get together.
Reading Mother Goose Rhymes with Gideon, Allison, Jacob and their new friends
After all our family dispersed, we ended the year snowmobiling with friends
at Island Park, Idaho. Fun! Later, David and I snowshoed into Yellowstone Park.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
(Stay tuned. . . next up, a report on our kitchen remodel.)

Wow! You did have a wonderful Christmas. Love the cabin pictures. Looks like it was a fun old fashioned Christmas - tree cutting, popcorn strands, etc. Glad you are getting your kitchen done next month. I am sure you didn't want to be in that mess with family there.
